SHAFTS & SLEEVES FOR PUMPS
Hydro Pumps manufactures and recovers shafts and sleeves for industrial pumps of any brand: precision machining in certified materials, recovery by thermal spray with final grinding and reverse engineering when there are no drawings. The component that transmits all the pump's power deserves design tolerances — not improvisation.

What we manufacture and recover
From a new shaft to drawing to the recovery of a worn sleeve — always with documented dimensionals.
New shafts to drawing
Manufacture in carbon steels, stainless and special alloys, with raw material certificates.
Reverse engineering
No drawing? We measure the used shaft, rebuild the geometry and manufacture — design tolerances preserved.
Recovery by thermal spray
Worn bearing seats and sealing areas recovered by thermal spray and grinding.
Shaft sleeves
Protection sleeves in stainless steel and hardened materials — the sacrificial part that saves the shaft.
Vertical line shafts
Long shafts for vertical turbine pumps, with straightness control and threaded couplings.
Straightening and correction
Straightening of bent shafts with dial indicator control and stress relief.
Design tolerances or nothing
The shaft is the pump's backbone
Every rotating component of the pump rests on the shaft: impeller, bearings, seal, coupling. A shaft out of tolerance — an ovalized seat, a scored seal area, tenths of runout — condemns each of those components to early failure, however good they are.
Our machining works to the tolerances each region demands: bearing seats in the correct fit class, sealing areas with mirror finish, runout controlled along the length.
Recover or manufacture new?
Localized wear — a bearing seat, the packing area — is recovered by thermal spray and grinding at a fraction of a new shaft's cost. Slight bending is corrected by controlled straightening. Cracks, generalized wear or a fatigue history condemn the shaft: we manufacture the replacement to drawing or by reverse engineering.
Inspection with dimensional testing and, when indicated, non-destructive testing, defines the route with criteria — and the report documents the decision.

Shaft and sleeve questions
What gets asked before ordering manufacture.
In most cases, no: the area is recovered by thermal spray and ground back to the original diameter with the correct finish — or protected with a shaft sleeve, which becomes the sacrificial item at future sealing replacements.
Yes — via reverse engineering: we measure the used shaft (even damaged), capture the complete geometry with the correct per-region tolerances and manufacture in equal or superior material, with certificates and final dimensionals.
Slight bends are corrected by controlled straightening with dial indicator verification. Severe bends or shafts with cracks detected in testing are not recoverable — in those cases new manufacture is the safe path, and the report documents why.
It depends on size, material and complexity — common horizontal pump shafts leave our machining shop quickly; long vertical shafts or special alloys take longer. The quote comes with a firm deadline, with an urgent-regime option.
