MECHANICAL SEALS FOR PUMPS
Hydro Pumps supplies mechanical seals for industrial pumps of any brand — single, double, cartridge and balanced — with engineering-led selection based on your fluid, pressure and temperature. Supply all across Brazil, with optional field replacement.

Mechanical seal types we supply
From the single seal to the pressurized double cartridge — the right variant for each fluid and operating condition.
Single mechanical seal
The standard solution for water, clean fluids and general service — optimized cost and fast replacement.
Double mechanical seal
Two sealing interfaces with barrier fluid, for hazardous, abrasive or crystallizing liquids — zero leakage to the environment.
Cartridge seal
Factory pre-assembled and pre-set unit: installation without setting measurements, eliminating the assembly error that kills most seals.
Balanced seal
Geometry that reduces load on the sealing faces — mandatory at high pressures and with low-lubricity fluids.
Faces and materials
Combinations of carbon, silicon carbide and tungsten carbide, with NBR, EPDM and fluoroelastomer secondary seals to match the fluid.
Engineering-led selection
You provide pump brand and model, fluid and operating conditions — our engineering specifies the correct seal, not just the equivalent.
The right seal matters more than the seal brand
Why seals fail early
The dominant causes of premature mechanical seal failure are well known: dry running (the liquid film between the faces disappears and they destroy themselves in minutes), rotating assembly misalignment, excessive vibration and solids contamination of the fluid.
In other words: half of all seal problems are not in the seal — they are in the pump. That is why Hydro Pumps treats sealing as a system: we supply the correct seal and, when the failure history calls for it, diagnose the root cause with vibration analysis and alignment correction.
Converting from packing to mechanical seal
A properly adjusted packing box must leak continuously to stay lubricated — and packing friction can consume several times more energy than a balanced mechanical seal. With expensive or hazardous fluids, or where treated water losses are billed, the conversion pays for itself quickly.
We evaluate case by case: not every application justifies conversion (abrasive slurry services may still favor packing). When it does, we execute the full retrofit: stuffing box adaptation, specified seal and monitored startup.

Mechanical seal questions
What buyers and maintenance teams ask before quoting.
Send the pump brand and model (nameplate), the shaft diameter at the sealing area and, if possible, photos of the current seal or the sectional drawing. With that data our engineering identifies the seal — including technical equivalents when the original is discontinued.
Yes. We handle seals for KSB, Imbil, Sulzer, Flowserve, Schneider, Dancor and any other manufacturer — both direct replacement and technically equivalent selection with equal or better performance.
Not always. When a seal fails repeatedly, the cause is usually in the system: dry running, misalignment, vibration or a fluid outside the original specification. Before replacing like-for-like, a diagnosis is worthwhile — it keeps seal replacement from becoming a recurring expense.
Yes. Our field crew performs the replacement at your plant, including alignment verification and monitored startup. For critical pumps, we recommend using the intervention to inspect bearings and clearances as well.
